Last week we started a new topic in Health and
began to explore the importance of resilience in our daily lives. Students were
introduced to Bounce-Back Bear; a bear that is just like us. He has good days
and bad days, he feels happy on some days and sad on other days, he is good at
some things and not so good at others.
Throughout this term, students will be exploring
strategies that they can use (and store in their invisible backpack) that will
help them to bounce back when things may go wrong. Students will learn skills
(such as exploring helpful thinking strategies, practicing empathy and dealing
with disagreements) in order to help them to become more resilient at home and at
school.
Students have already done such an amazing job at
identifying people that they can talk to when they are having problems at home,
at school and in the community. I cannot wait to have some more fun as we learn
to build up our resilience strategies that we can carry with us in our
invisible backpacks everywhere we go!
Below I have included some parent information about how you can support our resilience program at home and in your child's daily life.
